Featuring the Canadian Premiere of Nils Lindberg’s

A Christmas Cantata

St. Catharines, ON - Chorus Niagara , Niagara’s premiere choral ensemble, conducted by Artistic Director Robert Cooper, celebrates the holiday season with the Canadian Premiere of renowned Swedish composer Nils Lindberg’s A Christmas Cantata . This exciting work blends English carols, jazz and Swedish folk music into an exquisite arrangement for choir, soloists and the Talisker Players Big Band, a 21-piece ensemble; replete with saxophones, brass, percussion and jazz keyboard stylings. This work is definitely Christmas with groove!

Gospel reflections interspersed with the most famous of English carols: "Ding, Dong Merrily on High", “Deck the Hall’ “God rest ye merry Gentlemen”, and more …all set with infectious classical and jazz arrangements…are certain to take the roof off during this evening of both traditional and non-traditional Christmas cheer, treats and surprises!

In addition, Chorus Niagara proudly presents the Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir , and the debut of newly appointed conductor Melanie Marlin. The joy and spirit of this superb treble choir will be a special highlight of the evening.

Big Band Christmas takes place at Calvary Church, 89 Scott Street., St.Catharines on Saturday, December 19th at 7:30pm . Audiences can also enjoy an informative pre-concert chat with Artistic Director Robert Cooper starting at 6:45pm. The audience is invited to attend a festive reception immediately following the concert.
