
Robert Cooper C.M. is one of Canada’s leading choral conductors. He is currently the Artistic Director of the Orpheus Choir of Toronto, Chorus Niagara, and the Opera in Concert Chorus, and teaches at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. Most recently Mr. Cooper guest conducted at Festival 500, Festival of the Sound, 2007 Ontario Youth Choir and Ottawa’s Thirteen Strings, whom he has been invited to conduct again this December. In addition to numerous workshops and choral performances, Mr. Cooper will be conducting the Toronto Operetta Theatre’s production of “Iolanthe.” Mr Cooper was for 31 years Executive Producer for Opera and Choral Music, for CBC Radio Two. In June 2003, Robert Cooper received an Honorary Doctorate from Brock University for his significant contribution to the Canadian choral community, and in October 2003 was appointed to the Order of Canada.
